This Museum Quality ivory cameo is carved very three-dimensionally, like a sculpture. The head is protruding out of the background.
All the details of the elaborate hair, decorated with flowers and foils, are masterly rendered by a true artist.
But the most amazing peculiarity of this cameo is the magnificent face. Its artistic quality is superb and the beautiful woman, though idealized, is extremely realistic: please look at its sweet looking and its delicate smile.
This cameo seems to be the twin of another cameo you can see in my collection page, the cameo A010 (I have added here its picture).
The frame is very simple, as often happens on ivory cameos (the frame of the A010 cameo, though antique, is not original). It is in gold and hallmarked with the eagle head.
I'm near sure that both the cameos were carved by the same artist, as they seems to portray the same woman, the position of the head is the same, and both wear a two strads necklace (almost unusual on cameos).

Ivory cameos, above all of this quality, are exceptionally rare, near unique.

Highly desirable collectors piece.
