The frame is original in all parts, with C clasp (no pendant bale).   Superb and impressive antique high-relief lava cameo depicting a magnificent and sculpturesque Medusa. Exceptional piece because the highest quality of the carving, the artistic level, the size and the as new condition (except the small repair on the wing). The died Medusa looks stiff and relaxed at once, with a superb contrast between the strong character of the face and its total inexpressivity.
