Date: ca 1830) Origin: Paris Size: 1 - 3/4 by 1 - 7/16 inches Condition: Mint   This beautiful and very rare cameo probably depicts Catherine the Great (Katerina Alexeevna), Empress of all Russia (1729-1796). I have at last found an image of another cameo depicting this celebrated Empress. As you can see they are very similar, though on my cameos she is younger than on this one. The stone cameo pictured below, comes from the cameos collection of the Empress, and was recently sold by Sotheby's.
