Young Hercules

Materials: shell, wood.
Date and origin: ca 1820-30.
Size of the cameo: ca 1 3/8 by 1 1/8 inch
Condition: flawless.

Museum Quality cameo in Neoclassical style, finely carved to depict the young Hercules wearing the lion skin.
The frame is sealed on the back side, and wear a paper label dated 1785.
I believe this is a memorial or mourning item, and 1785 should be the birth date of someone
The writing is almost missing, but we still read "Jo...", likely a name., and on the third line "Uncle of 2nd..."
Higly desirable collectors item.
